Nate Scantlin, a recent graduate of Rose Hill, was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds with the 437th overall pick in the 15th round in the Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday.
Scantlin, an 18-year-old center fielder prospect, was signed with Iowa Western to play college baseball, but told the Eagle on Wednesday afternoon he intends to sign with the Reds’ organization and begin his professional career immediately. He will fly to Phoenix on Friday.
“It’s always been my dream to hear my name called in the draft since I was a little kid,” Scantlin said. “My dream came true today.”
